33. Solving Problems Is Fun

There will always be problems. That is a good thing. You can stick with problems you have or you can trade them up for new ones. I like trading them up because solving problems is fun. It is like life is a game and each new problem is a boss at this level. Defeating hard bosses is so rewarding. A particular problem, a hard boss, I have is conscientiousness. I took Jordan Peterson's Big 5 Test some years ago. I wanted to understand myself better because at that time I recently discovered I had ADHD. I always thought I was just lazy before this. After the test I realized how severe it was. I was in the 1st percentile for conscientiousness. As alarming as this was, it explained why I had achieved so little.

I took it again last year and the results were promising. The key event that followed the first test was I learned about hypnosis. I learned about my subconscious mind and its role in my life. I learned about the power of language and suggestion. This took my score to the 28th percentile. I wonder where I will be in a couple of years after learning how knowledge is created and how important good explanations are. Good explanations connect me to reality and the search for them provides me with endless fun. Out of everything I've learned this is the most significant.
