15. How Knowledge Grows

We know that many ideas color us. Some we are aware of and others are hidden. Some of those ideas are better than the rest because they are easier to criticize. Those good ideas are rich in detail. To us, this is more important than whether we believe those ideas are correct. Our best ideas are those ideas we have challenged in the most creative ways and somehow they continue to survive. Our worst ideas avoid being challenged. Our job is to seek out those ideas. Our mission is to criticize them until they are no more. We know that our ideas are not true because we believe them. We choose to believe them for now because we tried hard but failed to pick them apart. This is how knowledge grows. No idea is immune to criticism.
